“The man of my heart” no matter what it takes

story by Nana Yaw

Hello fam, welcome to the last week of the most love month, February has always been marked as the month of love so today’s blog is on relationships. Everyone loves love๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

This is going to be quite a long and interesting read.

Let me try and summarize this story.

My name is Blessing Agyei,  a Christ-centered person yet ready to mingle and choose the best partner.

Back in level 300, I had a conversation with one of my Christian brothers (Nana Yaw) and he asked me what I looked out for in a man I want.

That time, I had recently learnt about the qualities you can compromise on and that which you can’t. I told him about later (someone who has a relationship with God, someone with parents(or a head he’s accountable to), one who is faithful, this and that) and I later told him about that which I look out for but I can compromise on (not fair, has a beard, tall and all that๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…)

I asked what he looks out for and he said, first, someone who makes me happy and a few other things … I was like why not a Christian first and he replied if I will be interested in you in the first place, being a Christian is a given. If I have someone who makes me happy, I will enjoy the relationship every day.

The quality of someone who makes him happy stuck strongly with me.

When the “love” fades, the tingling feeling gone, will it be a relationship you will enjoy?

Is he or she someone who makes you happy?

I think it’s a quality everyone should look out for.

Let’s move to the main business

Some of us have the idea that because he loves me and I love him, this relationship will be a smooth ride. If you ever talk to my mother in the Lord about relationships, one thing she’ll tell you is “RELATIONSHIP IS HARD WORK”

When you see a successful relationship or marriage thrive for years, it just didn’t happen. Two people just decided to put in the work.

There will be days when you will feel like you are on cloud nine. There will be days too where you will just be there. It’s all a part of the journey.

When I told my mother in the Lord about plans to write this blog, she passed a comment that it is even unchristian to think things will be all smooth in a relationship.

Bible even says in Ecclesiastes that there’s time for everything, time to laugh, and time to cry… So it is in a relationship.

Let’s take a look at why things aren’t always rosy.

1. The fact that he’s a guy and you’re a lady: this alone is enough reason to fight or have arguments in your relationship. The way ladies think and pervasive things and how guys see things differ.

2. Lack of Communication: this may sound like a cliche but not communicating has been the cause of many failed relationships. I know because I’ve been a victim. Not communicating properly always brings up arguments in the relationship

3. Sometimes we take our partners for granted: when this happens, hurt builds up between you two. It makes the relationship grow stale as well

How can this be resolved?

Resolving these issues doesn’t mean you will have an all-rosy relationship forever. The ups and downs is all a part of it.

1. Understand that you are both different. You are from different homes, different upbringing, and different ideologies. If you accept it, you will be able to work out your differences. The goal isn’t to make the other person like you.

2. Communicate. Talk. Talk about what you want, talk about what you expect. Tell her her action didn’t sit well with you. Unless you are going out with a magician, you can’t expect your partner to know it well. So let’s talk

3. Put in the efforts we use to before the relationship began. Sometimes we become laid back and put in the effort because we have what we want. If we continue with that attitude, things will get sketchy and eventually you’ll fall off.

Relationships are not marriages yes. And you can opt-out anytime things are not going well. However, if you have this mindset, you will not be willing to put in the work.

Recently, in my quiet time, I learnt this no -matter-what-it-takes attitude from  Nehemiah.

He wanted to build up the city badly so that even threats from enemies didn’t shake him. After he had prayed, they continued to work. At one point, some of the laborers worked with one hand while the other hand held a weapon. They even worked from morning to evening. This is the no -matter-what-it-takes attitude.

Putting in the work to achieve the results you desire

We should be willing to fight for the relationship we want. If you have to end things, it shouldn’t be for lack of not trying.

May the good Lord keep everyone in a relationship. May He give you the wisdom you need and may the relationship be full of joy.

And for all who seek, may you be blessed with a beautiful relationship that brings glory to God.

Thanks for staying to this point. I hope you’re blessed… Let’s get interactive in the comment section ๐Ÿฅฐ

Responsibilities At Home “must it always be men who provide financial support”

By: Eric Murphy Asare

The question of whether must financially support in the home be the sole responsibility of the man or is a shared responsibility for both has been raised eyes brow in many relationships and marriages.

From the Christian perspective, Genesis 2:18 says having made man sometime before the woman, it is not good for the man to be alone, I will make him a helper suitable for him”.

The word helper is described as offering support or assistance to one another, based on the context, it's assumed that partners have the shared responsibility of supporting the home financially; however, some couples feel it's the responsibility of the man to bring financial support to the home.

In another school of thought which may seem old-fashioned because of the modern age understanding, but many couples today divide financial responsibilities along gender lines, Yet even if the division isn’t by gender, there’s often still a division: One partner takes on the role of money manager while the other just follows along.

“It’s common for one partner to do most of the work when it comes to money,” but, Any approach to shared finances that doesn’t involve both partners having equal knowledge and doing equal work can be stressful and risky for your relationship—and isn’t the best approach for your finances, either.

If one partner controls the money, they’re more or less “parenting” the other’s spending. That can lead to feelings of resentment if the money manager feels burdened with all the financial work.

It can also cause frustration if she’s continually being asked for money. And if the money manager doesn’t want to say no to her partner, this arrangement could even have negative financial consequences.

On the other hand, the non-manager may feel financially micromanaged or bossed around. She may also be less motivated to save, which could put her in financial danger if the relationship ends.

“It’s essential that couples are on the same page with their finances,” “Money symbolizes so much more than just money; it means power, control, safety and your future.”

So remember, you’re not off the hook for your partner’s half of the work; you need to know and agree with everything they’re doing, and to have created shared financial goals, strategies, and budgets.

Ghana scores 43 percent on 2022 Corruption Perception Index

Ghana has placed 73rd in the 2022 edition of the Corruption Perceptions Index, CPI. The report, which was released Tuesday, January 31, 2023, makes it the third consecutive time Ghana has ranked in the same spot out of the 180 countries surveyed.

The results announced by Transparency International (TI) saw Ghana score 43 out of a total of 100.

Corruption Perception Index Score relates to perceptions of the degree of corruption and ranges from 100 (highly clean) to 0 (highly corrupt).

The news statement highlighted the need to address the canker, as corruption is a major contributor to the country’s current economic woes, as evidenced by several reports, including that of the Auditor General on Government of Ghana’s COVID-19 expenditure.

Generally, Denmark tops the index this year, with Finland and New Zealand following closely, both with a score of 87.

The least-performing countries are Somalia (12), Syria (13) and South Sudan (13).

They are all enveloped in protracted conflicts as years of violence and war have decimated resources and left them vulnerable to corruption, leaving governments essentially incapable of making any progress.

Four accused persons in NDA corruption saga granted bail

By: Eric Murphy Asare

The four accused persons standing trial for procurement breaches involving the Northern Development Authority (NDA) and A&QS, Consortium, a consultancy firm, have been granted bail to the tune of 2million Ghana cedis and three sureties each.

The Court presided over by his Lordship, Eric Ansah Ankomah, also directed the accused persons to justify the bail conditions by producing documents of a landed property worth five hundred thousand cedis (GHS500,000) to the registry of the court.
The Court further ordered the accused persons to submit their passports to the court registry.

The Court also barred the first accused person, who is also the CEO of the NDA, Sumaila Abdul-Rahman from travelling outside the country after his counsel pleaded with the court to give him two weeks to present his passport.

The four accused persons include the CEO of the NDA, Sumaila Abdul Rahman and his two deputies, Stephen Yir Aru Engmen and Patrick Seidu as well as the CEO of A&QS Consortium.  The four were all present in court with their counsels.

They are accused of conspiracy to commit the criminal offence of directly or indirectly influencing the procurement process to obtain an unfair advantage in the award of a procurement contract contrary to section 23 (1) of the criminal offence Act, 1960 (Act 29) and section 92 (2)(b) of the Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663).

The Deputy Special Prosecutor Cynthia Lamptey and Albert Akurugu represented the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

The four pleaded not guilty to all the charges. Counsel for the second and third accused persons, Joseph Kpemka, appealed to the court to grant the accused persons bail because they are responsible persons with known addresses without the risk of flight.

The court, duly granted the bail with conditions and adjourned the case for three weeks for case management to commence.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor in June last year, initiated investigations into suspected corruption at the NDA over a contract awarded to A&Q’s Consortium for consultancy services under the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP).

The investigations followed a complaint filed by a private legal practitioner, Martin Luther Kpebu, who requested an investigation into the operations of NDA and the actions of its Chief Executive and Board Chairman.

The complainant alleged that the NDA awarded a contract to A&QS Consortium Limited on 28 January 2020 for consultancy services for the supervision of some constituencies in the Upper West Region under the IPEP for the contract sum of Five Million, Seven Hundred and Twenty Thousand cedis. But upon the exit of the then Acting Chief Executive who executed the contract, the contract sum was illegally increased to Ten Million Four Hundred Thousand cedis.”

Pages containing the original amount of Five Million Seven Hundred and Twenty Thousand cedis were also allegedly removed.

The Special Prosecutor after detailed investigations revealed in a statement that, “Mr. Abdul-Rahman, Mr. Engmen, Mr. Seidu, and Mr. Kuundaari intended their actions to, and their actions did in fact, directly or indirectly influence the procurement process to obtain an unfair advantage to A&QS in the procurement for consultants by NDA under the IPEP by increasing the approved procurement total contract sum of Five Million Seven Hundred and Twenty Thousand cedis by an amount of Four Million Six Hundred and Eighty Thousand cedis to an amount of Ten Million Four Hundred Thousand cedis without lawful authority.”

Setting the records Straight - Npp Orgganizer

Mr Obuobi

My attention has been drawn to a lies-laden release making rounds by the disqualified aspirant Ofori Atta (Commando) calling Hon Isaac Kwame Asiamah a failed MP.

Is laughable and shameful for somebody who was interdicted by national security due to his crass involvement in the infamous excavator scandal that caused the NPP government a dented opprobrium and also couldn’t mention the name of his polling station making these uncivilised and childish claims just to distract the good people of Atwima Mponua's attention.

If not malicious, mischief and uninformed allegations, how can you call an MP who through his assiduous work, loyalty and honesty to his people has lifted the image of the New Patriotic Party in Atwima Mponua Constituency a failed MP.

Some of the achievements of Hon. Isaac Asiamah is the electrification of over 460 communities, borehole to almost 530 communities, 124 kilometres of our road is or is been tarred including him (Ofori Atta) home town of Bedabour; Bayerebon road construction (ongoing); Kwanfifi-Akonkye, Mpasatia to Bedabour (completed) Nyinahin township road (ongoing) Tano Odumasi to Anansi (ongoing) Nyinahin-Awisesu (ongoing) Amangoase-Achiase (ongoing).

In addition, in his bid to ensure an excellent human capital, Honorable Isaac Asiamah has given Financial support to over 1000 needy but brilliant students, built a maternity block for Nyinahin hospital, built Library at Nyinahin and Mpasatia, built a multi-purpose sports complex which is at its final stage of completion for the people of Atwima Mponua Constituency, construction of Kwanfifi and Otaakrom Community park which are ongoing. He has given the NPP a well-furnished office, financially supported tailors and hairdressers. He has donated about 350 sowing and Hair drying machines to skilled workers.

It is not by fluke that he has been praised by the media as the best Youth and Sports Minister since the fourth republic.

These are some of his achievements at the ministry which includes, but are not limited to;

1. Renovation of Accra, Kumasi, Tamale and Essipong sports stadium.

2. Construction of ten multi-purpose stadia across the then ten regions of our country. These are Kanishie Azumah Nelson Sports Complex(Greater Accra) Axim(Western region) Dunkwa on Offin(Central region) Ho(Volta), Dorman Ahenkro(Bono Reg) Wa(Upper West) Navrongo (Upper East) Yendi( Northern Region) Nyinahin(Ashanti Region) Koforidua in the Eastern region. These sporting centres have other sporting facilities in them, such as basketball, tennis courts, handball, netball, tartan tracks et al. Works also commenced for some other towns such as Techiman, Sefwi Wiawso, Dambai, Nalerigu, Damongo, Sunyani, Mampong and Offinso under Hon Isaac Kwame Asiamah

3. Construction of 3- bedroom house for Black Star coaches.

4. Settled some left by predecessors. Notable among them is the outstanding bonuses owed to the Black Queen's of Ghana which led to the demonstration by the players. And also the $45,000 debt owed to Ghana's first Boxing champion D.K Poison.

5. Amidst the Anas expose, the Ministry under the able leadership of Hon Isaac Kwame Asiamah managed to avoid any Fifa sanctions on Ghana Football.

6. Hon Isaac Kwame Asiamah also see to over one thousand athletes getting into the board with YEA Programme with allowances every month.

7. For the first time in the history of the Youth and Sports Ministry, supported premiership clubs with fifty thousand Ghana cedis (each club).

With these glaring achievements, one can only agree with the media that he's performed to perfection.

Ofori Atta has been sponsoring people to cause mayhem at party gatherings, to insult the leadership of the party at the constituency and have tried many times to cause division just to blame them on the hard-working Patriot the Honorable MP. The sad aspect of it is that this man (Ofori Atta) has never won a unit committee position before but yet enjoy attacking an MP who has contested and the MP position for 5 consecutive terms.

I, therefore, call on all patriots to remain resolute on our unabated agenda to break the 8. Let's all avoid spreading falsified information, unite ourselves so we can break the 8 come 2024 easily.

The Stand Alone Bee

As I flew up, into the air,
I looked back one last time at the hive.
All the bees were standing there.
Some were happy and proud to see me go; some were still crying.
As they held handkerchiefs up against their noses,
I saw the twinkle in their eyes, was the sunshine reflecting;
They truly did pull at my heart strings.
But this was no time to bee questioning my decision.
There is a whole world out there!
And I don’t know what I could bee missing!
So onward good friend, up, up and away!
My radio-wave-head thinks today is going to bee a glorious day!
As the hive became smaller, as it grew further into the distance,
I regained my focus; let the adventure commence!
So forwards I flew, over places I have known.
There were still faces I recognized below
And there were still places I wished I could go;
But there was no time, because time flies!
And so did I; further into the sky.
I could see the ant hill, swarming with an army of friends.
The days of war between our people were over
And I hope they will never return again.
A couple of ants flew up to have a chat and say goodbye.
They told me I was the talk of the town
And wished me luck, but they had to fly.
So off they went, back down to reality;
I was still gliding along on a possibility.
What could bee out there?
What will I see?
I couldn’t believe I was finally fulfilling my dream.
For so long now I had been thinking about going someday,
While all the other workers were out drinking
And only interested in pay.
I saw a better future, where the amount you owned did not matter,
Because there was enough for everybody and endless laughter.
All quarrels were temporary, no lasting family feuds.
I still dream of a time, when I fly home to you;
But now I can see the border approaching.
This poem is specially dedicated to Ruud, you meant the world, as you fly up to the space..our memories last. Goodbye my dear.

This is it! It is finally happening!
So close to freedom, so full of fear,
But I am an aeronautical engineer and a space pioneer.
The past is behind me and it will still bee there when I return;
Today is a present, the future calls me,
Time to let my engines burn!
Faster and faster, I fly only forward!
No looking back now, as I travel through the air waves.
I have never been so excited!
I had never imagined there could bee a way,
To smash through the sound barrier!
I broke the speed of light!
I have passed through the boundaries of what was my old life
And now I am becoming a stand-alone bee!!!!.

THE WET PANTS....................................... Eric Asare Murphy

There is a nine-year-old kid sitting at his desk and all of a sudden, there is a puddle between his feet and the front of his pants are wet.

He thinks his heart is going to stop because he cannot possibly imagine how this has happened. It’s never happened before, and he knows that when the boys find out he will never hear the end of it..
